MEMBA – Brownies & Lemonade EP party

On Friday, February 24, I went to LA for an Immersive EP launch party for MEMBA, hosted by the electronic music promoters Brownies & Lemonade. MEMBA comprises music producers, Ishaan Chaudhary and Will Curry, focusing on EDM’s subgenres Futuretrap, Futurebass, and dance. They’ve collaborated with various musicians in their music career, kicking off in 2016. Notable artists include EVAN GIIA, Ehiorobo, Elohim, Pluko, SLUMBERJACK, and smle.

So unfortunately, it was a very cold, rainy, and windy night, and was not dressed for the weather, so I got a cold. Despite that, everything was so cool! Hosted in a secret location, The Immersive Nutcracker Cocktail Fete, ticket holders received the address through text on the event day. This venue has a lot of shitty reviews on Google, but my night was everything but shitty.  The event had a horror escape room vibe. At first, I was in the main hall, but then as I walked around, I realized this place was much bigger than it looked. The entrances for the other rooms were very narrow and uninteresting, like if someone left the supply closet door open, but there were so many incredible themes. At first, I found stairs going up to a cute vintage living room with a creepy man in a tight white suit moving freaky as hell. They were leading people into a foggy second room with purple EV lights, giving people markers so they could write down their deepest darkest secrets on the wall. After doing that, they marked your face, and I was humbled.

I found more and more about this event as the night went on. There were secret rooms with objectives and a free shot of liquor! When you completed the three objectives, collecting three symbols on your face, you were supposed to get a reward; I didn’t finish that. I found a room connected to a neighbor business on the side, a comic book store, and there I found the merch booth. I bought an awesome scarf, which I recently lost at a fest :(, and I no lie got a discount for it by making a friend.

MEMBA played hit after hit, and when their show ended, and I was ordering a burrito at the nearby food truck, I witnessed the impossible. Five EDM producers were hanging out to support MEMBA, and they were some of my favorite music artists ever. I first walked up to San Holo, had to tell him how mindblown and lucky I was to be talking to him, and we took a picture together that is now my profile pic. I met Chet Porter, one of the most chill musicians I had the pleasure to meet. The same goes for Jai Wolf, Pluko, and Robbie from Louis the Child! This encounter made my night from very cool to 100% vibrant, 100/10, I was starstruck for days. I stuck around because I heard there would be an after-party for VIP guests, but I needed a VIP pass. I did what every music superfan would do, snuck into the after-party, and danced amongst my favorite DJs. In conclusion, the MEMBA EP party hosted by Brownies & Lemonade was unreal and incredible!
